DNR should have moved elk instead of killing
In response to your article that appeared in the Oct. 17 edition of the paper. The taking of a perfectly healthy animal by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. The elk had been coming to Rogers City since last fall. Without any incidents during that time period. They had an available option at their disposal, which was to tranquilize the animal and transport it to the viewing area in Gaylord, where it certainly could have been safe and lived out the rest of its life in peace. Where it no longer would be a threat to anyone, as the DNR claims it “might have been.”
