Grand Funk’s Mark Farner to speak May 11

On Saturday, May 11, at the Posen Community Center, folks living in Northeast Michigan will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hear an American icon, Mark Farner, speak at the annual Reagan Day Dinner sponsored by the Republican Party of Presque Isle County.

In 1969, Farner, along with two boyhood friends from Flint, formed a band, which they named GRAND FUNK RAILROAD. For seven years, this band was famous as their music was played along with The Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, and other famous groups of that era.

In 1976, Farner left GRAND FUNK RAILROAD and formed his own new band called Mark Farner’s American Band. Mark used his great talents as songwriter, lead singer, and guitarist to play to packed venues across America, as well as international venues. At age 75, Farner still regularly plays before packed houses at concerts.

The Republican Party of Presque Isle County is proud to bring to Northeast Michigan this American icon, Mark Farner, who will serve as the keynote speaker at the annual Reagan Day Dinner at the Posen Community Center on Saturday, May 11, from 5 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

A wonderful meal will be catered, as well as a cash bar. Along with Farner’s keynote address, there will be a silent auction coupled with a live auction featuring professional auctioneer Kim Sumerix.

To make sure you don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, be sure to contact Darrin Darga for tickets at P.O. Box 201 in Posen, Michigan, 49766. You may reach Darrin by telephone at 231-489-9254. Tickets are $50 and are available until sold out. Tickets are available until May 4.
