Support your schools, support property tax

Alpena Public Schools has a millage renewal vote coming up on Feb. 27.

This is NOT a new tax. This operating millage has been in place since 1994 and does not affect our primary residences. If you do not exercise your right to vote and the millage fails, APS will lose close to $10 million in revenue. This will force APS to reduce and even cut certain programs.

I am a graduate of Alpena High School who lived through “Black Friday” as a senior. Schools were closed for three weeks and when we came back there was no busing, programs were cut and it was “Pay to Play” for all extracurricular activities.

We don’t want our students to go through this same experience.

I urge you to vote YES on Feb. 27 to renew the APS Non-Homestead Operating Millage.
