Our family will serve as the honorary chairs of the 22nd annual MyMichigan Aliferis Race to be held on Sept. 2, 2023. We are writing this letter to encourage you and your family to join us in participating in this community event which promotes healthy living and our local medical center.

Nancy and I have been blessed with the opportunity to live a healthy lifestyle and have participated in many sporting activities over the years. We shared this active lifestyle with our three children as they grew up and now enjoy watching our grandchildren as they become active in sporting activities. For this year’s event, we will have family members participating in the 5k run/walk, the 1-mile run/walk and the 18.5-mile bike race.

MyMichigan Health has been an important part of our family. We were both born at Alpena General Hospital, our children had the opportunity to work for the hospital at various stages of their work careers, and Bernie has served on the Development Council Planned Gifts Committee for nearly 30 years.

The MyMichigan Aliferis Race honors Dr. Peter Aliferis who served as medical pathologist at the hospital for 37 years. This event is an opportunity to enjoy some quality time with your family and friends, support our local hospital with your donation, and to experience a healthy activity as we wrap up summer in Northeast Michigan. We look forward to seeing you on Sept. 2.
