Kudos to the Alpena Wildcat Hockey team and Coach Ben Henry.

Saturday and Wednesday evenings’ games turned into a phenomenal community event. The stands were packed and every inch of available space was filled with an excited hockey fan, eager to support our hometown team, regardless of the outcome.

As I held my young son up to the glass as he watched in awe, I reflected on the impact that this team has had on the Alpena community this season. I couldn’t have handpicked better young leaders for my aspiring hockey player to look up to. The positive presence that has come from this team of young leaders during this season has been phenomenal.

From cheering on the Alpena Figure Skating Team, to helping a local citizen move heavy items into their new home, and everything in between. These young men are true leaders. I think most community members would agree with me in saying, there are more successes to be proud of than just their game wins.
