In your commentary on Oct. 15, the statement concerning support by the Democratic Party for the three incumbents and Sarah Fritz is inaccurate and misleading. Sarah’s campaign is nonpartisan/nonpolitical. She is a passionate supporter of public education and all efforts needed to provide for the best education of all students. Her campaign is supported by small donations from numerous individuals and her own funding.

For transparency, she has received an endorsement by the Democratic Party and a modest donation amounting to less than 1/7th of the overall total. To my knowledge, there has been no endorsement by the Democratic Party of the three incumbents and most likely no monetary support provided.

That said, it is highly evident that the “4 dads” have been highly funded. Many ads state “Paid for by the Alpena County Republican Party.” Based on the amount of events and ads for all four, it suggests funding from significant sources with highly political agendas rather than the interests of our APS students.

Sarah is non-partisan, has no ax to grind, knows and loves kids, and wants to help.
