Dinner should have flag, honor safety personnel

1 min read

We attended the annual Alpena Chamber of Commerce Dinner on Feb. 10 for the first time. While duly impressed with the event, we were equally disappointed by the fact that there was no American Flag on display.

With a them of “Around the World, But No Place Like Home”; what is home without our flag? There was no Pledge of Allegiance following the invocation either.

What is home without honoring our service people? The police force, firefighters, EMS, our military and our veterans. These people keep us safe on a daily basis, and without them, there would not be a home.

We sincerely hope that in future events, this will not be overlooked again, as this doesn’t say much for our community if we don’t honor these people with a “thank you” for their service; and respect our flag.

God Bless America.
