Range Light Park is a must-see destination

Those looking for a spectacular view of Lake Huron during these wonderful autumn days should consider visiting Presque Isle Township’s historic Range Light Park.

Located on Presque Isle Harbor, the facility offers beach access, picnic shelter, toilet and ample parking. A statue honors early 20th century light keeper Anna Garrity, and the original Front Range Light that Anna maintained is preserved here. Both the picnic shelter and bathroom are handicap accessible via a short driveway and/or ramp. As one of the few fully-accessible small parks on Lake Huron, Range Light Park benefits the entire county and visitors traveling the US-23 Heritage Trail.

Dedicated in 2015, the park was a team effort. Retiring township trustee Pat Hart wrote grant applications that funded the project. Dick Spencer, a Park and Recreation Committee member, oversaw design and construction. Facilities manager Matt Bedard supervised installation of the bathroom and driveway. To these three tireless workers go 99.9 percent of the credit and the sincere gratitude of Township residents.

Put Range Light Park on your list of things to do before the snow flies.
