Thank you for your service, Grimshaw
He served 30 years in the Michigan State Police.
That includes nine years as commander of the State Police’s Alpena Post.
He earned a Bravery Award and four Professional Excellence Awards.
He built solid relationships not only with other Northeast Michigan law enforcement leaders but also with other community leaders.
He raised his family here in Northeast Michigan.
And he’s now hanging up his hat.
First Lt. John Grimshaw has retired.
The State Police has been an excellent agency in Northeast Michigan, carrying the bulk of the weight on the Huron Undercover Narcotics Team — especially important here, where drug crimes are notably prevalent — and leading a number of investigations into the most serious crimes our area has seen.
That excellence is in now small part to Grimshaw’s leadership.
We thank Grimshaw for his years of service.
We wish him well in retirement, which he intends to spend with his wife, Gennu, and his two daughters, Elliyana and Adriana.
Thank you for your service, Grimshaw, and godspeed.
