Hillman High School's Trenton Taratuta just won't quit.
First, the senior guard on Hillman's boys basketball team hit 2,000 career points the week before last, a feat rarely accomplished by anyone in the state.
Then, last week, he shattered a school record for points scored in a game, knocking down 11 three-pointers to tally up 52 points in a game against Rogers City. The previous record was 41 points in a game, a bar Taratuta hit three times in his career.
Hillman coach Eric Muszynski "was one of the most amazing single performances I have witnessed as coach here at Hillman -- or anywhere, quite frankly. Trenton was hitting NBA three-pointers and it didn't look like the net was even moving! I've coached, watched, and played in a lot of high school games and I haven't witnessed a performance like this ever! The crazy part of it all is he got cut in the third quarter and had blood so he had to come out and get cleaned up. Essentially, he scored 52 points in three quarters of play."
Taratuta's success is a testament to hard work, determination, grit, and great coaching.
It inspires us to work harder to excel at whatever it is we do.
Congratulations, Taratuta. Keep rolling!
