Voters in Onaway, Onaway Area Schools, and Alcona Community Schools will cast ballots today.
We encourage everyone who lives in those precincts to head to the polls and cast ballots.
Not registered? You still can go to your local city, village, or township office to register today.
The issues are too important to not have every possible voice in the decision.
In Onaway, Andrew Bischer, Roger Marsh, and Arthur Nash are vying for two open seats on the Onaway City Commission.
In Onaway Area Schools, voters will decide two bond proposals -- one for $11.6 million and one for roughly $6 million -- that would allow the district to renovate its school building. If both proposals pass, property taxes would rise by about 1.34 mills, or about $67 a year for the owner of a $100,000 house.
In Alcona Community Schools, voters will decide a $20 million bond proposal that would allow the district to renovate facilities and would raise taxes by about 2.2 mills, or $110 a year.
More information on all three elections can be found at TheAlpenaNews.com.
Everyone will have to live with whichever commissioners win election on Tuesday. Everyone will have to pay the taxes in those school districts.
So everyone should have a say in what happens.
Head to the polls, dear voters, and make your voice heard.
