It is an interesting time for Swami when he's recognized. People often say, "I see you are still writing the column." The answer is yes, then he proceeds to say, "It is going to continue until it isn't fun anymore." This is not his swan song column, he just finds it interesting when people know him by sight and not by name. It makes him feel appreciated.
Let's see if he can familiarize himself with some winning picks this week.
ALPENA (1-4) at GAYLORD (5-0) -- Friday -- 7 p.m. -- Alpena had to suffer through not only a setback, but a two-hour rain delay before kickoff took place last week. The end result nothing went right for the Wildcats in the shutout loss.
Gaylord controls its destiny and can secure a postseason spot with a win tonight. Two short weeks ago, Cadillac pummeled the Wildcats and Alpena's offense has stumbled after a Week 1 win. Taking that into consideration, one has to say it will take a miracle to knock off the Blue Devils. The Hush brothers have taken turns in leading the Blue Devils to victories. It was Russell's Hush's turn against the Vikings last week, rushing for 221 yards and four touchdowns.
The All-Knowing-One says without a doubt the Wildcats have to play a perfect game on both sides of the ball to have a chance. The probability is very slim, but Swami says that is why they play the game -- nothing is for sure until the game is over.
Swami Sez: Gaylord 35, Alpena 6.
ONAWAY (3-2) at ALCONA (4-1) -- Friday -- 7 p.m. -- The Cardinals were knocked out of flight as Gaylord St. Mary did the damage in a 46-6 win last week. It was a rough night for the Cardinals as the Snowbirds capitalized on four opening quarter turnovers for 20 points.
The Cardinals, playing shorthanded, finally got on the board with a pass play for quarterback Brady Gapczynski to Justin Kramer-St. Germain of 19 yards. Onaway is hoping to rebound against Alcona tonight.
Alcona had no trouble with Charleton Heston in a 60-0 whitewashing. The Tigers controlled the line of scrimmage from the opening series and had very little opposition from the Patriot defense.
Swami says the only good thing about a game like that is everyone should be recharged and be ready to go against a tough front line.

ROCK MID-PENINSULA (0-3) at POSEN (5-0) -- Saturday -- 1 p.m. -- Posen has made short work of everyone it has played this season. Last Friday was no exception against Mio. This should be an easy pick for Swami, as the points per game of the Vikings equal the same amount Rock has given up on defense.
The Vikings had an easy time downing the Thunderbolts in an 48-2 win. Jack Romel and Eli Chojacki combined for five touchdowns. Romel did his damage hitting 7-of-9 attempts for 125 yards, and another 143 on the ground. Posen pitched a shutout led by Owinn Commerford and Chojacki, in addition to significant help from Colton Paull and Logan Timm.
Swami says with the schedule the Wolverines play it is difficult to have consistency. With a win, Posen all but assures themselves of the postseason.
Swami Sez: Posen 48, Rock Mid-Peninsula 0.
WHITTEMORE-PRESCOTT (3-2) at ROGERS CITY (2-3) -- Friday -- 7 p.m. -- Rogers City finished itself in unfamiliar territory this late in the season. In past years, there was no doubt the Hurons were the better of the two teams. This year is not typical for Huron football. Rogers City has the playmakers, but not enough of them when they go up against the powerhouses this season. Isaac Paul and Austin Fenstermaker have been the leaders for the Hurons. Rogers City is looking for any spark to get them back on the winning track.
Whittemore have alternated wins and losses through the first five games, if it follows the pattern, it may mean a loss.
The Hurons are coming off a 67-0 lopsided loss to St. Ignace, while the Cardinals had a 20-point win over up-and-coming Atlanta. The winner will still have life in terms of the postseason with three games to go.
What the All-Knowing-One knows about both teams; he feels it should be a very competitive game.
