The Hillman Community Schools Board of Education, in its search for a new superintendent for the district, had a "pretty simple" goal, Kelly Burnwell, president of the Hillman Board of Education, told News staff writer Temi Fadayomi for a recent story.
"We wanted someone who was gonna love our community and who was gonna stay," Burnwell said.
Pamela Rader, who has been interim superintendent for nearly a year and a half, fit that bill.
"My family moved here going on nine years ago," Rader told Fadayomi. "I love Hillman, This is my home."
The Hillman school board voted five-to-one to move Rader into the superintendent's post permanently.
In December 2021, Hillman's previous superintendent, Carl Seiter, resigned. Rader took over as interim superintendent temporarily, relinquishing her previous title as the principal of Hillman Elementary School.
We say congratulations to Rader and wish her well in her new role.
