Alpena High School's robotics team needs your help to get to the FIRST Robotics World Championships in Houston.
We call on the community to open their wallets and help the team get there.
Alpena High's Team 5505, also known as Volts Squared, qualified for the World Championship during the FIRST State Championship at Saginaw Valley State University over the weekend.
But it's expensive to get 20 people across the country -- perhaps $30,000 or more -- and the entrance fee for the championship games is $5,000, the district says.
The school is accepting donations online at tinyurl.com/bdhvswfn or in person at the Alpena High main office.
We urge everyone who is able to donate to the cause.
Robotics is a great program, teaching kids not only science, technology, engineering, and math skills, but also teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. It really prepares our kids for a bright future.
It's a worthy cause to which to donate.
