Share your thoughts on public land

Natural land for the public to enjoy is one of Michigan’s greatest resources, and Northeast Michigan is rich in that regard.

Now, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources is updating its statewide public lands strategy, and is asking for Michiganders’ input to help them decide which lands need protection, and for what purpose.

The DNR has launched an online map — available at https://tinyurl.com/yynrd2rj — and is accepting comments via email at LandStrategy@Michigan.gov to get the public’s input on how public lands should be used.

You wouldn’t let the government tax you without your say, nor would you let government spending happen without your input.

This public land strategy is no different.

The land — 4.6 million acres of it — is part of the public treasure, and the public ought to have a say in how it’s spent.

So share your thoughts. Visit the map and tell the state what to do with your resources.
