Glad to see athletes playing again this fall

It just doesn’t quite feel like fall without the sights and sounds of prep sports.

As the coronavirus continued to spread throughout Michigan into the summer, it wasn’t clear if any kids would return to their classrooms, let alone whether any students would get the chance to continue competing in athletics.

After recent decisions by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan High School Athletic Association, fall sports such as football, volleyball, and soccer can continue, with safety precautions for athletes, such as wearing masks.

And continue they have.

The Wildcats men soccer players tied Harbor Springs 1-1 in their season opener. The girls volleyball players went perfect in a home quad.

We are glad to see athletes continue to compete, and, so long as the proper precautions are taken to protect the health of the athletes, we hope their seasons go on uninterrupted.

In times like these, you hold on to the little silver linings.
