Congratulations, Chief Robbins

One of the coolest things about the Northern Strike military exercises set to begin next week at the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center is the way the exercises allow Northeast Michigan and its people to play a significant role in the world.

Because of the exercises, there are servicemen and servicewomen in Latvia, Estonia, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Jordan and beyond who know of Alpena’s charm.

And who know Alpena Township Fire Chief Dave Robbins.

On Monday, Lt. Col. Dustin Budd, operations director at the CRTC, gave Robbins a certificate of appreciation for the work of Robbins and his crew to train firefighters from Latvia, Estonia, and Bulgaria prior to their participation in Northern Strike.

We say much deserved.

Northeast Michigan has a good ambassador in Chief Robbins, and it makes us proud to say military teams around the world know a bit more about fighting fires thanks to Robbins and the team in Alpena Township.

Congratulations, chief, and keep up the good work.
