Congrats, Bronwyn, on earning Citizen of the Year

Congratulations to Bronwyn Woolman, who was named the 2019 Citizen of the Year Thursday at the Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual banquet.

Those who know Woolman will understand just how perfect she is for that award. Tirelessly, she volunteers countless hours each week to make her community a better place, all the while balancing a busy schedule as wife, mother and grandmother. To look at her scheduling calendar each week would make most people exhausted, but not her.

Woolman exudes grace. We believe it is at the very core of her being. It is a principle that guides her perspective each morning when she awakes.

Over the years, Woolman and her husband, Fred, have opened their home as foster parents to an endless parade of children. Regardless of their circumstances, regardless of their personal struggles, Bronwyn has helped be an anchor for those children in a sea of instability.

Whether it be at the local theaters or at Girl Scouts, at the church or volunteering in the schools, Woolman has been an inspiration for many of us as to what the life of a community volunteer should look like.

We tip our hat to her this morning. She is a great choice as this year’s Citizen of the Year.
