Come in from the cold for Business Expo, book sale

If ever there was a need for a break after a rough week of nasty weather, it would be this weekend.

Frigid temperatures and tons of snow have left residents cold and achy … desperately needing a little change of scenery to rejuvinate their perspective on life.

We believe we can help.

Alpena News employees will be hosting the 18th annual Business Expo and Newspapers in Education Book Sale Saturday, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., at the APlex.

While we can’t control the weather, we do promise to try and relieve some of those “cabin fever blues” you might be experiencing. As always, there will be thousands of books from which to choose — all at bargain pricing. The books will be perfect to get readers through the rest of the winter.

Proceeds from the sale help to fund the newspaper’s NIE program, which puts free newspapers into partner classrooms around the region. Teachers appreciate those newspapers, for not only do they help students with reading skills and keep them updated on current events, but newspapers also can be used for science and math projects.

At the Business Expo, a very diverse group of vendors once again will be eager to visit with guests and share with them about their businesses. Businesses this year range from real estate companies to financial institutions, home improvement supplies to automobile dealers, and a whole lot more!

And, as always, if you need to take a break, Arby’s Relay for Life Team will be serving up great food and beverages for a fair price. All proceeds from their sales goes to the team’s fundraising efforts this year.

Get out and escape the confines of your residence this weekend. We hope to see you Saturday.
