It’s time for fairness on the school board
I’m really worried about how some of our school board’s conservative members are being treated. These are good people who stepped up to serve our community — and instead of support, they’re getting constant attacks and harassment, with their words twisted and their intentions misrepresented, all because of their beliefs.
It’s always the same group of Democrats behind it — you can even see their names in the paper. They make it their full-time job to show up at every meeting, write angry letters, and they were at the “No Kings” rally recently. They’re still hung up on things like a rain garden and an asphalt vote from months ago. It’s pretty clear they’re not interested in moving our schools forward or helping the community.
What’s frustrating is that these board members are asking important questions and encouraging discussions we haven’t seen in years. They truly care about our kids, teachers, AI’s, and all APS staff — they want what’s best for everyone.
But when the superintendent and board members start holding back because they’re afraid their words will be twisted, it makes it harder for everyone to get the best outcomes for our students.
We don’t have to agree on everything, but we do need to treat each other with respect. These board members are strong and won’t back down — but that doesn’t make the harassment okay. I hope more people will come to meetings, talk to the board members directly, and see what’s really going on instead of believing rumors.
We need to work together for the betterment of our kids and our community.
