Shirley “Joy” Brooks, 82, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, at home. She was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin on Dec. 3, 1940, to the late Marvin and Harriet Davis. She married Eugene Brooks on June 5, 1960, and they celebrated 62 years together. Joy served all over the world, bringing joy to the people she encountered. Andrew Daoust, 29, of Alpena, passed away at home with his family at his side following a long, hard-fought battle with Friedreich’s Ataxia. Andrew was diagnosed at the age of 10 but he never let that define him. While he may have been limited physically, he was never limited in his love of life and others. He was a kind soul with a big heart who always kept a positive outlook regardless of the situation. Suni Marie Speaks, 57, of Alpena, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, at home surrounded by family. Suni Marie Szymanski was born Feb. 10, 1965, in Detroit. On May 25, 1991, she married Raymond “Skip” Speaks. Suni enjoyed her work at the Alpena Regional Airport. She was a talented artist and graphic designer who enjoyed sewing, making jewelry, knitting, and quilting. Suni was a strong fighter, who had a black belt in Karate. WOLOSZYK, William, 51, of Lachine, died at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City on Dec. 28, 2022. Bill is survived by his daughter, Angela, granddaughter, Zoey, mother, Dolores (Harvey) Finley, father, Ralph Woloszyk, brother, Glen Woloszyk, and his sister, Julie (Joe) Burrone, and his aunts, uncles, one niece, one nephew, and several cousins. Mrs. Doris Elizabeth Shumaker, 92 of Hillman, Michigan died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at her home on Dec. 25, 2022. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 31, 1930, to the late Henry Adam and Vera Young (Lynn) Berry. She was a member of the Snowbird Club and the Red Hats. She was a kind, caring, and compassionate, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whom will be dearly missed.
