Thomas “Tommy” Grzendzicki

January 5, 1938 - Friday, Oct. 30, 2026

Thomas "Tommy" Grzendzicki, 88, of Alpena, passed away Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, at MediLodge of GreenView, surrounded by his family.

Tom was born January 5, 1938, in Alpena to the late Joseph and Rose (Wodkowski) Grzendzicki and graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1956.

He held an Able-Bodied Seaman license, sailing with the Interlake Steamship Company from 1956 to 1960. On October 22, 1960, he married Lorraine "Linda" Tadajewski, with whom he recently celebrated 66 years of marriage. Tom was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus and attended St. Mary Church (All Saints Parish).

Tom worked for Presque Isle Corporation as a master machinist, retiring after 35 years of service. A skilled craftsman, he built his family home from timber he cut and hauled, restored and assembled a working Rumely OilPull tractor, and was once called upon to fabricate an essential engine part on-site to assist a disabled Canadian freighter. Neighbors frequently stopped by his shop for advice, to get help fixing broken equipment, or just to hear a good story. Tom enjoyed fishing Lake Augusta and Long Lake, tending the family garden, smoking meats, playing guitar, and reading Louis L'Amour westerns.

Surviving are his wife, Lorraine; their daughters, Sandi (Andy) Neumann, Sherry Seguin, Susan (Dr. Bradley) Boehm, Keri (Larry) Johns, all of Alpena, and Kathy (Joel) Nevejans of Northampton, Massachusetts; seven grandchildren, Krissy Lockwood, Sarah Neumann, Dr. Brandon Seguin, Katie Daoust, Jacob Daoust, Leslianne Johns, and Loren Johns; a great-grandson, Leif Davenport; and a sister, Sally (Gus) Giannakopoulos.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rose Grzendzicki; a sister, Blanche (Eric) Peabody; and a son-in-law, Robert Seguin.

Private family services will be held at McWilliams Funeral Home. Many thanks to the staff of MediLodge of GreenView and Hospice of Michigan.
