Joel A. Kowalewsky, 68, of Metz, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at MyMichigan Medical Center - Alpena.
Joel was born on April 16, 1958, to the late Raymond and Lois (Brege) Kowalewsky. At the age of 14 Joe started to learn how to play guitar, and for many years has played with a variety of bands. Joe graduated from Alpena High School Class of 1976 and later worked and retired in 2023 from Cadillac Products. He had a love of fishing and deer hunting and was known as the "corn man" because he was so proud of the corn he could grow.
Surviving are his brother, Tom (Michelle) Kowalewsky; nieces, Alisha (Dan) Bouchard, Sarah (Jordan) McCoy; great nephew, Logan Bouchard; great niece, Savannah McCoy.
Joel was preceded in death by his brother, Steve (Wendy) Kowalewsky and nephew, Max Kowalewsky.
Memorial visitation will take place at the Bannan Funeral Home on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 2 p.m. with Rev. James Erickson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
