Allen Haltiner

June 11, 1945 - November 5, 2026

Allen William Haltiner, age 81, of Alpena, passed away on November 5, 2026, peacefully with family by his side.

He was born on June 11, 1945, and from an early age he carried the qualities that would come to define him throughout his life. He was handy, optimistic, and intelligent, and those traits were evident in the way he approached both his work and his home. Allen graduated in 1963 from Alpena High then enlisted in the Navy where he served in the Mediterranean and Cuba. Allen was proud to follow in his family's footsteps by working at Huron Portland Cement Company for 20 years and being a millwright. He gained great satisfaction in building, repairing, and creating with skill and determination. On February 12, 1966, during a ten day leave from the Navy, Allen married the love of his life, Angela, and together they built a marriage grounded in loyalty, companionship, and shared memories. Their life together was filled with family, hard work, and the simple joys that made each day meaningful. Allen and Angela shared many years side by side, and their bond remained a central part of his life. He is survived by his wife, Angela; his son, Scott, and daughter-in-law, Rachel; his daughter, Heidi; and his grandson, Coby Murriel Haltiner. He is also remembered by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Murriel and Violet Haltiner, as well as his sisters, Delores Hanson and Lucille Dault. Allen found happiness in the outdoors and took great pleasure in the natural world. He enjoyed hunting and gardening, and he was especially proud of his big sunflower garden. He loved nature deeply and spent many hours appreciating its quiet beauty. When his children were young, he and Angela camped all over the United States, creating lasting memories through travel, adventure, and time spent together as a family. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and had a strong interest in automotive work, both of which suited his practical nature and mechanical mind. One of his proudest accomplishments was building his own home, a testament to his skill, perseverance, and determination to create something lasting for his family.

A private graveside memorial service will be held in the spring of 2027. Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Michigan or the Dementia Society of America. McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family.
