Theophil Wekwert

Theophil Larry Wekwert, 82, of Alpena died Monday, Oct. 19, 2026, at MyMichigan Medical Center - Alpena.

Larry was born on Sept. 4, 1944, to the late Theophil and Anna (Smolinski) Wekwert. Larry graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1962 and served in the United States Army form 1963-1966. On Feb. 24, 1968, he married the love of his life, Barbara Allen. He worked at Universal Fluid Dynamic and retired from Abitibi in 2007.

Larry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara, two sons, Lee Wekwert, Craig (Denise) Wekwert; seven grandchildren, Brittany, Van, Roen, Ryder, Shiloh, Tyler, Noah; great grandson, Austin; four siblings, Jerome Wekwert, Betty Stoppa, Geri Chase, Janice (Jerry) Schultz; several nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by sister, Marie Walmsley; in-laws, Vernon Stoppa and Robert Chase.

Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home. A private celebration of life will take place at a later date.
