Rodney Olson, 74, of Alpena passed away unexpectedly on October 9, 2026.
Rod was born June 20, 1952 in Alpena to the late Gerald and Marie Olson. He was a long-time painter and was a lifetime member of the International Brotherhood of Painters. In 1985 he married Suzan Scott. The two of them wintered in Arizona where Rod served as the monitor for the Dreamland Villa Lapidary. Known as "Rod the rock guy", he enjoyed both rock hunting and cutting.
Rod is survived by his wife Suzan, his sister, Jeanne (Tom) Standen, his niece, Cara Standen, his great niece, Brooklyn Fillipiak, his cousin, Jack Olson, as well as several other cousins.
Per his wishes Rod has been taken for cremation with no services planned at this time. McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family.
