Linda Jewell

Linda Marlene Jewell, 84, died Oct. 22, 2026, passed away at Davison Care Home peacefully.

Linda Marlene Tabor was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas and raised in Pontiac, Michigan, where her family settled after her father began a career in the auto industry.

After graduating from high school, Linda worked within the school system where she met her husband Clifford "Bud" Jewell. They later moved to Hillman to pursue Bud's love of fishing and the outdoors and then moved to the family farm in Posen. Linda worked for Atlanta Schools until the birth of their son Jason in 1973. In 1977 Bud and Linda founded Jewell's Disposal Service. Following Bud's passing from cancer Oct. 26, 1985, Linda successfully ran the business until her first retirement in 2005, and then her second retirement when she was finally ready in 2007.

Linda was previously active in Long Rapids Congregation Church, Zonta of Alpena, and Adult Lifelong Learners of Alpena. Her greatest joy, however, was being a grandmother to Marleigh and Morgan. She could be found at all their school events, spending time with "her girls", and never being too busy to miss a moment of their lives.

Linda is survived by her son Jason and Leigh Ann Jewell, granddaughters, Marleigh Jewell, Aaron, Morgan, and Luke Jewell-Whaley; stepdaughter, Ronda Ferguson, step granddaughter, Alyssa and her wife Jen, step granddaughter Amy, her husband Mike and their children.

She is also survived by her loving sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Ray Gotschall; her wonderful brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Kim Tabor, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband Clifford "Bud" Jewell, stepdaughter Bonnie Henry, parents Willie and Thelma Tabor; her sisters Nancy Halferty and Cindy Greene, her brother Kevin Tabor, and brother in law Hobbie Halferty.

Linda lived a full and beautiful life building a successful business, spending time with family, and traveling the world with her sister Deb, brother in law Ray, and close friends Pat and Virginia McFalda. She will best be remembered as a strong dynamic lady, a true family matriarch, who created her own way in the world and left an indelible mark on those who knew her best.
