Gary Allan Wallace, age 80, of Ossineke, Michigan, passed away on October 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on June 16, 1946, in Alpena, Michigan, and spent his life rooted in the community he called home. Gary was a proud graduate of Alpena High School and carried the values of hard work throughout his life.
Gary spent many years working as a machine operator at Besser Company, where he was known for his dependable nature and strong work ethic. Those who knew Gary understood that he was a man who could be counted on, whether on the job, at home, or among family and friends. His steady presence left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Outside of work, Gary was a man who enjoyed staying busy and using his hands. He was handy in every sense of the word. He found satisfaction in working in the garage and spending time in the woods. Gary enjoyed making bowling ball trees, camping, traveling, and spending winters in Florida as a snowbird with his wife, Gayle, making memories together.
Gary is survived by his wife, Gayle Wallace; his sons, Scott (Michelle Hawkins) Wallace, and Jim (Marge) Wallace; his brother, Tim Wallace; his sisters, Pam (Steve) Sample, and Brenda (Al) Bradbury; his grandson, Gary; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his stepson, Greg Tracey; his parents, Delmar and Loretta Wallace; and his brother, Tom Wallace. Gary cherished his family deeply, and his love for them was evident in the time he shared and the example he set.
Though he will be deeply missed, Gary's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His memory will remain a source of comfort and strength, and the life he built will continue to be honored by his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Family will receive friends at McWilliams Funeral Home on Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 10am until the time of service at 11am with Rev. Mary Hughes officiating. Online condolences can be made at www.mcwilliamsfh.com
