Penny Dowling, born July 2, 1964, in Sault Ste. Marie and passed away on September 4, 2026. Penny was a beloved daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was the daughter of Carol Ulch and was predeceased in death by her father, Richard Ulch. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Ric Ulch and Byron Ulch, as well as her brother-in-law, Steven Smith. She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Dan (Kate) Dowling, and Jason (Andrew) Ponce De Leon. Penny also leaves behind her sisters, Annette (Dennis) Kindt, Patty Smith, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and family friends. Her family was one of the greatest joys of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with each of them. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy. Penny carried the love of her family with her throughout her life, and she gave that love freely in return. Penny had a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. She loved being outdoors and old country music was a favorite companion to her days as she enjoyed the comfort and familiarity of its songs. She also loved spending time with family, where laughter, conversation, and togetherness meant the most to her. Penny had a playful side and enjoyed scratch-off lotto tickets, and evening board games. She found joy in dancing, feeding her birds, and picking berries. All of which reflected her appreciation for beauty, movement, and the world around her. Those who knew Penny will remember her as a kind, light hearted woman whose friendly nature made others feel welcome and at ease. She had a gentle spirit and a thoughtful way about her that left a lasting impression. Her presence brought comfort, her smile brought warmth, and her love for others was evident in the way she lived each day.
Penny has been taken for cremation. McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family. A memorial / celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date and as Penny would say, "Yeah right! Or "Come on Man!"
