John Michael Meldrum, 87, of Alpena passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Medilodge - Alpena.
Mike was born in Redford Twp on September 29, 1938, to the late Guy and Josephine (Bertrard) Meldrum. Mike served in the United States Army, worked for Alpena Heating and Cooling and for 31 years owned and operated Huron Sheet Metal. On June 1, 1973, he married Donna Campbell. She preceded him in death on April 17, 2015. Mike enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting, playing golf and gardening. His most treasured moments were spent with family and close friends.
Surviving are his 7 children, Laureen Meldrum, Lisa Lenard, Jay (Ilso) Douglas, Dennis Meldrum, Fred (Rosa) Douglas, Jennifer (James) Berant, Tricia (Scott) Jones; 13 grandchildren, Ander Schunk, Robert (Megan) Lutey, Daniel Douglas, Jay (Ashley) Douglas, Jr., SoYoung Douglas, Alexis (Michael) Streefkerk, Emily Douglas, Zackery Douglas, Samantha (Aaron) McClure, Danielle Berant, Trevor (Rylei) Jones, Alex Jones, Owen Jones; 8 great grandchildren, JD, Mia, Ava, Lydia, Zagan, Julia, Theo, Viv; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Meldrum was preceded in death by son-in-law, Wayne Lenard; 3 siblings, Mary Leah Oke, Frederick Meldrum and Robert Meldrum.
A private celebration of life will take place. Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
Inurnment: Long Rapids Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alpena Senior Citizens Center or The Friendship Room.
