James "Jim or Doug" Douglas Hart, 60, of Ossineke, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on September 8, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born on October 8, 1965, in Toledo, Ohio, to James and Diane Hart. He graduated from Alpena High School and went on to build a long and dedicated career at MidMichigan Medical Center Alpena, where he worked for more than 30 years before retiring in 2017.
On September 25, 1999, Jim married the love of his life, Ruthilde Valdez, at Word of Life Baptist Church in Alpena. Together, they built a life centered around their faith, their family, and the simple moments they shared together.
Jim was a man of strong faith who loved the Lord deeply. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior on Labor Day, September 4, 1995, and spent the years that followed growing in his relationship with God. He loved spending time in his Bible, praying, and talking with God. His faith was not simply something he believed--it was an important part of who he was and how he lived his life. Jim was a longtime member of Northland Baptist Church, where he faithfully served God and his church family for more than 25 years. To know Jim was to know someone who loved to laugh. He was easygoing, lighthearted, stubborn, and goofy in all the ways that made him uniquely Jim. He was a true people person who loved to joke around, give people a hard time, and make others laugh, always with love and kindness behind it.
Jim (Doug) leaves behind his beloved wife, Ruthilde; his children, Joshua Hart and Rachel (Tanner) Orban; his foster daughter, Shanalee Giner; his mother, Diane Hart; and his siblings, Terry (Flosie) Hart, Timothy Hart, Jamie (Scott) Frasher, and John Hart, along with their families.
He was preceded in death by his father, James F. Hart, and his eldest brother, Thomas Hart. Jim’s life was rooted in faith, family, laughter, and love. He leaves behind not only the memories of the life he lived, but the faith he shared and the love he poured into the people around him. While his family will deeply miss his presence, his laughter, his jokes, and the everyday moments they shared, they find comfort knowing that Jim is now home with the Lord he loved and faithfully followed. Until we meet again.
Visitation will take place at the Bannan Funeral Home on Friday from 2-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Aaron Martinez officiating.
