Howard George Wissmiller, 83, of Alpena died Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, at MyMichigan Medical Center - Alpena.
Howard was born in Saginaw on Sept. 3, 1942, to the late Howard and Georgia (Jones) Wissmiller and served in the United States Navy from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1965. On March 28, 1967, he married Linda Pinkel. She preceded him in death on Nov. 15, 2018. Howard enjoyed collecting vinyl records, especially Bob Dylan, and woodworking.
Surviving are his two sons, Robert (Lisa) Wissmiller, Jeffrey Wissmiller; granddaughter, Jaedyn (Gabriel) Edwards, three siblings, Bonnie (James Johnson) Jones, James (Marilyn) Wissmiller, Marilyn Wright, several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wissmiller was preceded in death by his brother, Robert W. Wissmiller.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026, at the Bannan Funeral Home from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7 p.m. with Rev. Timothy Decker officiating. Military honors will be accorded to him by VFW Alpena Post 2496 at 5 p.m.
Interment: Evergreen Cemetery
