Gary Lee Smith, 84, of Alpena passed away Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, at MyMichigan Medical Center - Alpena.
Gary was born in Alpena on May 30, 1942, to the late Archie and Nellie (Jacobs) Smith. On April 18, 1966, he married Gloria Adrian. He worked and retired from Abitibi in 2004. Gary was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife, Gloria; son Guy; siblings, Patricia McFetridge, Alan (Cathy) Smith, Karol (Bill) LaPine; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by son, Greg; 2 sisters, Elaine (Harvey) Habermehl, Karen (David) McFetridge; and brother-in-law, Stuart McFetridge.
Memorial visitation will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at noon with Rev. James Erickson officiating. Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
