Robert Edward Szymanski, affectionately known as Bob, passed away at home in the arms of his loving wife on Aug. 12,2026.
Bob was born on Oct. 1, 1950 in Alpena Michigan to the late Clarence and June (Gorski)Szymanski. He graduated from Alpena Catholic Central High School in 1968 and attended Santa Ana College in California. He was a business owner in Lansing, Michigan.
Bob was 3rd degree member of The Knights of Columbus Council #6534, serving as Grand Knight and a member and usher of All Saints Parish, Alpena. He was an avid MI Wolverines fan, enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting, bowling and gardening
Bob is survived by wife and high school sweetheart, Patricia, daughters, Sandra (Don) Brown,
Sarah (Ryan Hasse) Szymanski, stepson Michael (Alex) Pettit, whom he loved as his own. Grand children Hadley and Colton Brown and Michael and Rylan Pettit, special sister-in-law Sheryl (James) Leonard and two siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Visitation will take place at A.E. Ross Funeral Home, Alpena on Thursday Aug. 20,2026 from 4-8 p.m. with prayer of the rosary starting at 6pm followed by a prayer service at 7pm.
A private graveside service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery.
