Michael J. Cherney, age 61, of Shelby, MI, passed away at his home on July 30, 2026. He was born on May 30, 1965, in Alpena, to Raymond J. Cherney and Leora S. (Cramer) Cherney.
Michael is survived by his parents, Raymond and Leora Cherney; his sister, Kimberly Walker; and his children, Tiffany (Bryson) Vruggink and Noah Cherney. He was also looking forward to welcoming his first grandchild, Tiffany's unborn child, whom he was eagerly anticipating meeting.
He is also survived by two nieces, a nephew, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alpha and Geraldine Cramer and Joseph and Rose Cherney.
A private memorial will be held with immediate family.
Michael will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on through his children, his family, and the grandchild he was so looking forward to meeting.
