Linda Kay Soldenski, 74, died on Aug. 12, 2026, at her home with her family following an extended illness.
Linda Kay Alexander was born in Alpena on Feb. 7, 1952, to the late Norman and Adeline (Gosselin) Alexander, and married John Soldenski on Sept. 26, 1970.
Linda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Linda worked at Alpena General Hospital for 35 years. She was also involved in the county fair and 4-H for many years as a member, then leader, and was the high school equestrian coach.
Growing up with horses her entire life. When she was younger, her father also had a riding stable, and she took many people on trail rides. She taught her children and grandchildren and many other children all about horses. How to take care of them, ride them, and show them. Barrel racing was what she enjoyed the most besides trail riding. She was a caregiver to many family members before and after retirement.
Linda is survived by her husband, John of almost 56 years; three daughters, Diana (Jim) Donajkowski, Kristy Fras, Kari (Bari) MacNeill; two bonus children, Dawn Kowalski and Bridget Ewing; seven grandchildren, Amber (Josh) Hibbler, Jenna Donajkowski, Breann Donajkowski, Kelsey Fras, Kayla Fras, Kalie Spragg, Codey (Alexis) Spragg; five great-grandchildren, Logan, Hayden, Blayke Hibbler, Carter and Drake Spragg; five siblings, James (Trudy) Alexander, Judy (Dennis) Woerman, Ervin (Darlene) Alexander, Raymond (Joyce) Alexander, Connie (Ron) Lucas; one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Alexander; several nieces and nephews.
Linda was preceded in death by three siblings; Norman Alexander, Estella (Bob) Frantz, Carol (Ed) Conn.
Memorial visitation will take place at the Bannan Funeral Home on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2026, from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at noon with Rev. Emmanuel Finbarr officiating.
Inurnment: Holy Cross Cemetery
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Hospice of Michigan or Alpena County 4-H Council
