Eldon G. Cripps, 88, of Alpena passed away on Aug. 8, 2026, after struggling with Alzheimer's disease.
Eldon was born Aug. 18, 1937, to the late Clayton and Lillian (Walker) Cripps. During his lifetime, he married Betty (Siess) Bedford, Patricia (Campbell) Socia, and Sandra (Brick) Pake Brilinski. Eldon built and remodeled countless homes in Alpena and other parts of Michigan. He continued his construction career in Colorado Springs, Colorado; and San Diego, California. Eldon retired after 53 years, then moved to The Villages in Florida with Lady Friend, Jean Dupart. After several years and some health issues, both returned to Alpena in 2015. In his free time, Eldon enjoyed driving sports cars, boating, snowmobiling, traveling, dancing, playing cards, visiting with friends, and spending time with family.
Surviving are his two daughters and a son-in-law: Vicki Cripps and Kenda (Randy) Yochum. Also surviving are: two brothers and their wives, Harvey (Toshie) Cripps and Francis (Chere) Cripps; plus, many nieces and nephews.
Eldon was preceded in death by four sisters Meladean King, Millie McHarg, Evonne Barnard, and Jeanne Kilbourne; and four brothers-in-law Raymond King, Dale McHarg, Richard Barnard, and Barry Kilbourne.
A memorial service will take place at a later date. Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
