Bruce Leonard Griggs, born May 6, 1942, died July 28, 2026.
Bruce's mother gave him roots, his father gave him wings, he was raised by his village and schooled by mother nature. From his earliest beginning, a wind was in his heart, and a fire was in his heels. His wings carried him from his family cabin in the historic Great Lake's region to the high desert country of Sierra Nevada. Then years in Alaska with all its magnificent wonder. His adventuresome spirit took him to many of the lower forty-eight states; he was a property owner in Central America and a regular winter visitor to Mexico and the teeming waters of the Baja.
Trust, respect, affection, and humor defined a history of lasting friendships from all walks of life. A first-rate parochial education, the US Army, college, and a series of insightful mentors were early contributors to a lifetime of success. Routinely calm, reserved and curious with a subtle wit, a fortunate few have witnessed him face danger and life-threatening events with action, courage and resolve. His work ethic was legendary, thrifty to a fault; he gave the entirety of his estate to charity. At last, he returned home to family, his village and countless friends, forever entrusted to mother nature and the Lord.
A remembrance and burial in the Presque Isle Twp Cemetery are pending. Cremation arrangements are being handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
