Patricia Ann Leahy

Dec. 15, 1940 - June 12, 2026

Patricia Ann Leahy went home to God on June 12, 2026, after 85 years of exploring the world with curiosity, gusto, generosity, and joy.

She was born on Dec. 15, 1940, in Long Beach, California, to the late Edward and Eleanor Jewel (DeLapp) Needham. Her father’s job in the U.S. Marines led to a life of thrilling plane rides and frequent traveling. She carried that spirit of adventure with her wherever she went for the rest of her life, always eager to see new places and make memories with those she loved. She spent her childhood in states from North Carolina to Oregon, concluding in her beloved Hawaii, where she graduated high school and met her husband and the father of her four children, Samuel Lui.

She built a life around faith, community, volunteering, and family. She was passionate about her many creative pursuits, including painting, stained glass, cooking, writing, and music. She found great joy in being a lifelong learner, being a voracious reader, engaging in book clubs, and picking up new skills like guitar in her 70s! Her family will miss her stories, Thanksgiving pies, wit, and laughter.

Patricia is survived by her daughter, Ginger Bohlen of Alpena, Michigan, her son, Michael (Tracy) Lui of Paradise, California; as well as seven grandchildren, Mishawn (Brandon Delgado) Lui, Kayla Lui, Cameron Bohlen, Blaire Bohlen, Tyler (Andrea) Lui, Kirsten (Graham Silcher) Bohlen, Samantha (Bohlen) (Andrew) DeNooyer; nine great-grandchildren, Timothy, Alex, Kaleigh, Presley, Declan, Leila, Izabel, Anna, Harrison; step-children, Kevin (Tami), Jeff (Jan), Steve (Lisa), Linda, and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) Kaltrider; daughter Cynthia Lui; son, Jonathan Lui; sister, Barbara Needham.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Patricia are invited to gather for a celebration of her life on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 201 S. Second Ave., Alpena, Michigan beginning at 10 am for visitation with the family until the memorial service at 12 pm with Rev. Laura Hoffman officiating. Guests are encouraged to wear colors to honor and represent Patricia’s bright spirit and love for the arts. Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Alpena Community College Foundation Student Emergency Fund or World Central Kitchen – two causes near and dear to Pat’s heart: supporting education and feeding people!
