Michael Kaiser

Michael “Mick” Rea Kaiser born April 25, 1945 in Gaylord died peacefully at MyMichigan Medical Center – Alpena surrounded by his family on July 3, 2026.

He is a 1963 graduate of Alpena Catholic Central High School. He then joined the Navy Reserves but was honorably discharged for medical reasons.

After meeting the love of his life, Carol (Ritthaler), in Detroit they married at St. Bernard’s Church on May 1, 1971 before residing in Lansing.

For 38 years he worked at General Motors representing the UAW 652, retiring in 2004 as a lathe operator and union placement officer.

After retirement, the couple moved back to Alpena where he enjoyed going to casinos, joining his daughter on her NFL Stadium Bucket List trips, spending time at his property in Ossineke and visiting with friends at the Eagles.

Mick was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Elizabeth (Rea) Kaiser, as well as multiple aunts and uncles.

Surviving is his wife of 55+ years, Carol, their daughter Danielle of Lansing, MI and granddog Brady. Also surviving is his sister Karen (Dave) Stepaniak of Alpena and his brother K. Kim (Karen) Kaiser of Richmond, VA along with numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces.

Per his final wishes, direct cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral or memorial service. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery on a date yet to be determined. McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family.
