Kenneth Klaft

Nov. 7, 1942 – June 27, 2026

Kenneth Klaft

Kenneth John “Ken” Klaft died peacefully on June 27, 2026, at the age of 83, Proudly married to his wife Gerrie for 62 years who recently passed on Dec. 7, 2024.

Born on Nov. 7, 1942, in Detroit, Ken lived a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and genuine relationships. While he built successful businesses and accomplished much throughout his life, those who knew him best will remember something far greater–the way he made people feel. He never met a stranger for long, always had time for a conversation, and believed life’s greatest blessings were found in the people gathered around the table.

A longtime resident of Warren and Washington Township, Ken was respected not only for his vision and entrepreneurial spirit, but for the character with which he lived his life. He always seemed to have another plan, another project, and another goal on the horizon. His determination and work ethic helped build a successful career in real estate and condominium developments, but he never measured success by business alone. To Ken, success meant creating opportunities for his family, mentoring others, and leaving people better than he found them.

Ken had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and treasured every moment spent at Grand Lake “Up North.” Whether he was at camp, cutting the grass, out on the boat, or enjoying the quiet beauty of nature, he found peace there. He also loved the game of golf and was still golfing just weeks before his passing. One of his proudest memories was making a hole-in-one, a story he always enjoyed sharing.

More than anything, Ken believed in staying connected. He was often the one organizing breakfast with old friends, gathering family for dinner, or calling someone simply to check in. He understood that relationships don’t maintain themselves–they require intention–and he made it a priority to keep the people he loved close. His life was a reminder that success means little if you have no one with whom to share it.

His generosity extended far beyond financial support. Ken freely shared his wisdom, encouraged others to dream bigger, and quietly invested in the futures of countless people. Together, Ken and his beloved wife, Gerrie, helped children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family pursue education, strengthen their faith, and build meaningful lives. Their generosity created opportunities that will continue to impact generations to come.

Above all else, Ken was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor, and loyal friend. He led by example–with humility, perseverance, kindness, and unwavering love for his family. His steady presence, quiet wisdom, and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Ken was welcomed into Heaven by his beloved wife of 62 years, Gerrie; his son, Don Klaft; Don’s wife, Lisa (nee Polec); his Father, John & Mother Helen (nee Madej) Klaft; and his sister Linda Black.

He is survived by his children, David (Cindy) Klaft, Donna (Dave) Finzel, and Deborah “Debbie” Klaft; his cherished grandchildren, Christopher (Courtney) Klaft and Adam Finzel; his siblings, Jane (Bob) Rosseau, Jerry Klaft, John (Marna) Klaft, and Roger (Martel) Klaft; his brother-in-law, Charlie Black; and many treasured nieces, nephews, lifelong friends, and everyone fortunate enough to have known and loved him.

A life well lived is measured not only by what is built, but by the lives that are touched along the way. Ken’s legacy will live on in the family he cherished, the friendships he faithfully nurtured, and the countless people whose lives are better because he was part of them.
