JoAnn Pagels
JoAnn Pagels, age 83, of Presque Isle, died on July 3, 2026. She was born on Jan. 24, 1943, in Mt. Clemens, MI, and lived a life marked by love, devotion, and a deep commitment to her family and the people around her.
JoAnn was the daughter of the late Joe and Mary DeLamielleure. She grew up in Centerline, MI and graduated from St. Clements High School. On April 20, 1963, she married George “Mickey” Pagels, and together they built a beautiful life centered on family, shared memories, and enduring love. Mickey preceded her in death on August 21, 2023.
Family was the heart of JoAnn’s life, and she treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her three sons, Mark and his wife Terry, Brian and his wife Amy, and Todd and his wife Mishelle. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Mark and Jenna Pagels, Chelsea and Kevin Kowalewsky, Carley Pagels and Brandon Tant, Alexandra and Greg Tulgestke, Elayna Pagels, and Joshua Pagels. Her great-grandchildren, Kameron, Preston, Malcolm, Wyatt, Sutton, Flora, and Lily, brought her immense joy and pride.
JoAnn is also survived by her siblings, Laura and Joe Sudia, Tom and Miriam DeLamielleure, Dave and Sharon DeLamielleure, Marlene and Dave Farmer, and Joe and Jeri DeLamielleure. She is further survived by her sisters-in-law, Sharron DeLamielleure and Carolyn DeLamielleure, and her brothers-in-law, Jerry Muylaert and Mike Casteel. She was preceded in death by her brothers Bud, and Darrel, and her sisters Nancy Muylaert and Margie Casteel.
JoAnn was a loving woman whose warmth and steady presence touched everyone who knew her. She enjoyed staying active and found happiness in biking, walking, and playing volleyball. As a resident on Grand Lake, she loved going for a swim in the lake every day, a routine that reflected her energy and appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. She was also an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed the Detroit Tigers and Michigan State football. Above all, she cherished her family, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
JoAnn has been taken for cremation with no services planned at this time. McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family.
