James Stanley

Jim was born November 2, 1955 to James F. Stanley, Sr. and Geraldine Scott. He was a graduate of Alpena High School in 1973. Jim enjoyed working on the Great Lakes freighters for many years before eventually medically retiring from Lafarge Corporation.

Jim was an avid hunter and was a member of the Alpena Sportsmen’s Club. He enjoyed sporting clay competitions with the Alpena Clay Busters and the Northern Michigan Sporting League.

Jim is survived by his mother, Geraldine Scott, his sister’s, Deborah Stanley, Sharon (Jeffrey) Hollis, daughters, Kristen Selby, Kathryn Stewart, stepmother, Denise Stanley, stepbrother, Louis (Sue) Cunningham, and his beloved dog Josie. He was preceded in death by his father James F. Stanley, Sr., his son, James F. Stanley III, and his stepmother, Marjorie Stanley.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at the 19th Hole (1081 US 23, Alpena, MI) on Saturday, July 18, 2026 from 4pm-6pm. McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family.
