Dolores Schilbe

Dolores Therese Schilbe died July 10, 2026. She is survived by sons Kevin (Diana) J. Schilbe, Martin (Tammy) L. Schilbe, and John (Billie Jo) E. Schilbe. Dee’s second born son, Michael A. Schilbe, passed Jan. 19, 2026. She is also survived by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Dee was preceeded in death by her sister Janet Gersewski Shalla.

Dee was born in Alpena to Leo and Margaret Gersewski on Jan. 2, 1937. She spent her life nursing and was known for her kindness and dedication to others. Dee earned her Licensed Practical Nurse certification in Cadillac from Mercy, then achieved her Registered Nurse license and Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1991–all while working full-time and raising her family. After earning these credentials, Dee retired from Grayling Mercy Hospital. Following her retirement, she relocated from Grayling to Cadillac, where she dedicated time to the Council on Aging and volunteered at the Senior Center.

While raising her children, Dee was a Den Mother for Boy Scouts and attended Parish Nursing Programs. While in Cadillac, Dee served as a eucharistic minister for ‘home bound’ people and sang in the choir at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Dee wanted to specifically mention life-long friends that helped her ‘along the way’ and created joyful memories. They are Kathy Parkinson, Loretta Whaley, Barb Hefty, and Judy Finazzi.

A E Ross Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. A private burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
