Mary Curtis
December 12th, 1999 - June 17, 2026
Mary Josephine Curtis, age 26, always knew what she wanted, and her death was no exception. Mary passed away on the evening of June 17, 2026, in her condo in Okemos, Michigan.
Mary went out with a bang.
She was born on December 12th, 1999, in Alpena, Michigan.
Mary had big beautiful hazel green eyes, and the sight of them filled her loved ones with joy, and her enemies with terror. She was a one in an eight billion kind of person, and saw the world in a way only her eyes could see.
Mary always held a steadfast commitment to what she felt was right, and did not hesitate to let anyone know about it. This was a gift, not a curse. Likewise, if she liked you, you knew all about it as well.
There was almost nothing she loved more than her two cats, Kitty and Booboo.
Mary was a beautiful singer and would sing the likes of Liza Minelli, Chappel Roan, System of a Down, and the Idles, seamlessly. In addition to her singing, Mary also wrote her own music.
As an incredible artist, she drew with pen and paper, painted canvasses, made wire trees, needle felted wool animals, and created other assemblages with any materials at her disposal. Anyone who knew Mary, knew that she was creatively brilliant.
While working as a hotel receptionist, or any job she held, she made it a point to make everyone feel like they were her best friend. This was her secret to enjoying her time. She told many stories from all the different walks of life that came her way, and she always made people laugh with her wonderful sense of humor.
She was meticulous with her work and always found ways to be more efficient. She knew her jobs down to a T, always ensuring a balance between work and her passions so she could continue to enjoy her free time drawing, writing, talking to loved ones, or just playing a video game.
Mary loved to help people with any problems they may have had, and she always found a solution. She worked diligently to help those she loved with achieving their goals, and they will never forget her support.
Mary dreamed of one day owning an antique shop filled with all sorts of amusing oddities, and playing harmless tricks on potential customers. Mary also loved to travel with her friends, visit new places, and have new experiences.
She loved harder than anyone else.
Mary is survived by her fiancé, Nathan Kline, mother, Mary Zill, stepfather Mike Zill, father (who was recently released from a 25 year prison sentence) Daniel Curtis, stepsister Mykala Isaacson, half-sister Jacqueline Curtis, and half-sister Jessica Curtis.
Those who knew Mary, or know those close to her are welcome to visit her at Bannan Funeral Home in Alpena, Michigan on Saturday, June 27th from 12 pm until the time of sharing at 2 pm, with Nathan Kline officiating.
