Robert “Bob” Norman Minton, 90, of Herron, Michigan passed away Thursday, April 30, 2026, at his home.
Robert Norman Minton was born December 2, 1935, in Alpena to the late Norman and Loretta (LaFleur) Minton. On March 21, 1963, he married Norma Patrick, who preceded him in death on February 5, 2025. After attending school, Bob served in the U.S. Army as a weapon repairman. Following his military service, he worked a variety of jobs, including working on the boats, owning his own sanitation company, and working as a laborer. Bob eventually returned to school to become a millwright, a profession he worked in for many years until his retirement. Bob loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He was an avid marksman. He also enjoyed bowling, shooting pool, and playing several instruments, including the mandolin, guitar, banjo, and harmonica. Most of all, Bob treasured spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who loved him very much.
Surviving are his four children; William Coburn, Carla (Charles) Beverly, Connie Coburn, Julie (James) Hilt; 16 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one sister, Donna Scull; three brothers, Howard (Bonnie) Minton, Roger (Gloria) Kowalsky, Richard (Sharon) Kowalsky; and several nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his son, Bryan Coburn; sister, Shelby Hartman.
Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
