Nicole Cuddie

Nicole “Nycki” Marie Cuddie, born to the late John Cuddie and Rose (Ouellete) Rings on Oct. 11, 1978, in Alpena, died at 47 years old surrounded by family, friends and loved ones on Saturday, May 23, 2026.

Nycki graduated from Alpena High School and attended Kirtland Community College, Michigan State University, and Wayne State University where she obtained her master’s degree.

Before returning to her hometown of Alpena, Nycki traveled across the world, building communities and teaching language skills. She returned home to assist in taking care of her mother. Once in Alpena, Nycki sought out creative outlets, spaces and people, declaring that immortality is the goal. She joined the board of the Poetics Lab and displayed as an artist at Art in the Loft, all while also working to obtain her teaching certificate and teaching Spanish at Thunder Bay Junior High. Throughout her life, Nycki brought light to the lives of those around her.

Nycki is survived by her cat Billie, stepmother Barb Cuddie, sisters Caitlin (Josh), Brandy (Rebecca) Cuddie, Michelle (Jason) Krawczak and Theresa Nutt, brothers Chris (Raina) Martin and Gary Nutt, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and countless colleagues, friends and loved ones who will miss her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her cat Casper, a brother Randy Nutt and nephew Ryan Cuddie.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at the Art in the Loft from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., with sharing at 2 p.m. Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to her family.
