Lieselotte Rosenberg

Lieselotte “Lotte” Rosenberg, age 88, died peacefully on May 19, 2026, at Medilodge – Hillman.

Lieselotte Engelniederhammer was born on June 9, 1937, in Tutzing, Germany to the late Michael and Liselotte (Heigl) Engelniederhammer. Lotte lived a life defined by strength, resilience, and deep devotion to those she loved. At the age of 19, Lotte bravely immigrated to the United States with very little knowledge of the English language. Through determination and perseverance, she taught herself English and built a life through hard work and grit. Later in life, she enjoyed working as a cook in a Missouri prison. She often shared stories of her time there and her experiences with the inmates. Lotte enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, and spending time with her faithful canine companion, Bella. She also loved going out to lunch with her dear friends, Alice Meredith and Tammie McDonald. Lotte will be remembered for her strength, independence, honesty, generosity, and fierce love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience and devotion that will continue to live on through all who knew and loved her.

Lotte’s favorite role, however, was being a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who treasured time with her family. She is survived by her three children; James Tanner, Michael (Mary) Tanner, Lisa (Drew) Sample; her grandchildren, Boone (Angela) Tanner, Kristin (Derek) Carr, Travis (Nicole) Sample, Melissa (Mike) Emeott, Tricia Timm, and James Tanner; great-grandchildren, Benson, Breckyn, Leo, Wes, Bryce, Andrew, Violet, Clara, Hudson, Kiera, Elena, and Cameron, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy. She also shared a very close bond with her beloved nephew, Markus; and nieces, Claudia and Monica.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wayne Tanner; her second husband, Joseph Rosenberg; grandsons, Jason Tanner, Brandon Dietz; siblings that remained in Germany, Michael and Inge.
