Raymond Jobson

Raymond “Budd” Jobson, age 81, of Alpena, died at home surrounded by his family, on Feb. 28, 2026. He was born Raymond Sword, Oct. 19, 1944, to the late Daniel and Offie (Allen) Sword, in Pikeville, Kentucky. Budd faced serious hardships early in life with the death of his mother at age 2 and his father at age 4. He then spent over four years in a Detroit orphanage; he was adopted by the late Robert and Joanne Jobson when he was 8 years old.

Budd married Marlene Hanson on Aug. 16, 1979, and together they shared 46 years of marriage filled with love, companionship, and family. He was a devoted husband and a proud father and grandfather whose greatest joy came from the people he loved. He is survived by his wife, Marlene; his children, Joseph Jobson, Matthew Jobson, Margaret Cousineau, Lorie Pahlkotter, Tamyra Richlynski, Delinda Guisgand, Tomi Ransom, Bradley Cousineau, and Mary Fuller; 25 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter, and many other loving family members.

After graduating from Bringham High School, he enlisted in the Army. He especially enjoyed his military time in Germany. Following his military service, he continued to build a life defined by determination and skill.

For many years, Budd owned and operated Buck’s Bait and Tackle, He was known not only as a hardworking businessman, but also a licensed journeyman carpenter.

Budd was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and put his trust in the Lord throughout his life. He had a deep appreciation for nature and enjoyed the outdoors. Those who knew him will remember his since of humor, and his kind heart. He was dearly loved and will be missed by many.

A celebration of Budd’s life will be held on May 2, 2026 at Grace Lutheran Church visitation from 11 a.m. until the memorial service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Tom Orth officiating.
