Gerald Dean

Jerry was born on Dec. 20, 1937, in Alpena to the late Walter and Olga (Meggert) Dean. On Aug. 26, 2006, he married Diana (French) Hale. He worked at Huron Portland Cement Company and later Walmart, however, he was always a tree farmer, owning and operating Dean Tree Farm. Jerry had a love for the woods, enjoyed dancing, but most importantly was spending time with family.

Surviving are his wife, Diana; Three children, Lori (Kieth) Bleau, Connie (Bill) Barnes, Daniel (Mel) Dean; four grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; Diana’s family, Dawn (Albert) Skiba, Christina (Richard) Skiba, Margie (Jeff) Manley; seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Dean; sister, Anna Rude and several other siblings.

A graveside service will take place at Evergreen Cemetery on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Timothy Decker officiating. Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.

Interment: Evergreen Cemetery

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Michigan or Second Chance Animal Shelter.
